Workshop on the World Heritage Nomination process of urban cultural heritage in Bahrain

The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), in collaboration with Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), organized a workshop on ‘the World Heritage Nomination process and the technical requirements for the safeguarding of urban cultural heritage in Bahrain’. ARC-WH introduced the general concepts of World Heritage and its collaboration with the Kingdom of Bahrain and the specific research and studies conducted on the cultural heritage expressions of Manama, its cultural assets, and its surrounding urban environment. Furthermore, ARC-WH gave an overview of the Nomination process for the submission of cultural heritage properties on the World Heritage List. During this workshop, BACA presented its work and efforts in safeguarding the built heritage in the capital governate to the representatives of the Municipality of Manama who attended the workshop, and discussed how they can better coordinate their actions in the future to protect the urban heritage of Manama and other districts in Bahrain.
