Organisation of an online workshop for the Baptism Site “Bethany Beyond the Jordan”
In collaboration with the Baptism Site Commission (BSC) in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) organized an online workshop titled “World Heritage Site: Baptism Site “Bethany Beyond the Jordan- Heritage Impact Assessment and Architectural Guidelines for the Churches,” which took place on Thursday, 17 August 2023.
The online workshop invited six architects and representatives from the new churches to help them better understand the World Heritage site and its natural environment. It also clarified the architectural guidelines produced during the process of revising the HIA for the completed and new churches in the buffer zone. This workshop is part of a technical assistance that was initiated in 2022, to assist the Baptism Site Commission (BSC) to respond to the request of the World Heritage Committee to submit the revised Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) for completed and new buildings in the buffer zone.
