Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between ISESCO and ARC-WH
On 29 November 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) during the Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, under the theme “Together for Safeguarding Human Heritage and Countering Extremism”, held in Manama, Bahrain.
The MoU incorporates the collaboration of organizing of workshops, training, meetings and conferences in the field of cultural heritage sites inscribed on the World Heritage List, as well as other sites of potential Outstanding Universal Value (OUV).
Other areas of collaboration includes activities aiming at reinforcing legal frameworks and national policies in the field of cultural heritage and human resource development to further assist Arab States Parties in the protection and conservation of cultural heritage. It also foresees capacity building activities for the preparation of nomination files for potential inscription to be presented to the World Heritage Committee.
