Integrating Cultural Heritage into Conservation and Development Planning on Socotra

ARC-WH, in coordination with the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh and the Freie Universität Berlin, plans on implementing the programme, Integrating Cultural Heritage into Conservation and Development Planning on Socotra, within a period of three years (2018-2020). The programme aims towards furthering cultural heritage conservation and establishing a cultural heritage database that integrates biodiversity conservation and development planning.

As an initial first step towards launching this programme, ARC-WH held a workshop for seven Socotries from 25 February to 1 March 2018 at its premises in Manama, Bahrain. Practical training on the understanding of cultural heritage and related documentation techniques were covered during the workshop, such as the study of archaeological structures, as well as photography and audio-visual documentation skills.
