To every professional interested in learning about how to safeguard cultural heritage in complex crises, build resilient communities and promote peace:

ICCROM, in partnership with the ALIPH Foundation, is offering a unique opportunity for learning how to safeguard cultural heritage in complex crises, build resilient communities and promote peace. Conceived for professionals and institutions in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan (MENAP), the Regional Course on Cultural Heritage First Aid, Peace and Resilience in Times of Crisisoffers an interconnected learning and field-application opportunity.

Based on field-tested methodologies for multi-hazard risk assessments, risk mitigation, preparedness and recovery of all types of cultural heritage, this training’s core component of teaching focuses on the three-step framework for cultural heritage first aid, which can be adapted to complex emergencies induced by overlapping man-made and natural hazards. The training will also address risks induced by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

This project will last 23 months and includes: 4 months of online learning sessions with mentoring (1 March – 30 June 2021), 2 weeks in-person hands-on training in Cairo, Egypt (18 July – 1 August 2021), and 7 months post-training implementation of projects in the participant’s home country, with mentoring support (1 September 2021 – 31 March 2022).
