Conservation and Revitalisation of the Kasbah of Algiers as a World Heritage Site
ARC-WH was invited to assist and participate in the meeting entitled “International Meeting of Experts on the Conservation and Revitalisation of the Kasbah of Algiers, a World Heritage Site” held in Algiers, Algeria from 21 to 23 January 2018. The meeting addressed key issues related to the conservation and management of the site in order to propose an integrated and coordinated approach to the revitalization of the Kasbah of Algiers. International case studies were presented with similar issues to those of the Kasbah of Algiers in order to build upon different processes of conservation and revitalization of historic urban centers. Given the expertise of the Centre in the field of urban heritage conservation, and as the only category two center operating in the field of World Heritage in the Arab region, ARC-WH was invited to talk about the experience of revitalization and rehabilitation of the City of El Qods.
