My Heritage Competition- Arab Youth for Heritage campaign
From 27 to 28 May 2022, from 27 to 28 May 2022, the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) completed a two-day online workshop, which had a total number of 127 participants from 16 Arab countries, including Algeria, Sudan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Yemen, Morocco, Oman, Libya, Palestine, Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon. The workshop targeted Arab youth between the ages of 18-28 years old living within or nearby a World Heritage site. On 25 September 2022, ARC-WH announced the winners of the short film competition, My Heritage – Arab Youth for Heritage and presented the six winning films to the public. Winners included the following countries: Yemen, Palestine, Libya, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia. The winning contestants were invited to visit Bahrain and were presented with certificates for their efforts. During their visit to Bahrain, the winners were tasked with creating a film about one of Bahrain’s World Heritage sites. The short film, entitled The Sea in a Drop, showcased the UNESCO World Heritage site Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy in Muharraq and was shared with the public.
