Enhancing the role of local communities in dugong and seagrass conservation in the Kingdom of Bahrain in Hawar Islands, Kingdom of Bahrain

A recent study conducted by ARC-WH, in collaboration with authorities, concluded that the territorial waters of Bahrain carry the largest groups of dugongs in the world in terms of number and density.  The study spanned more than 3 years, including extensive air and marine surveys, using satellite images and modern technologies.
ARC-WH organised in partnership with CMS an online national workshop on 22 June 2022, to evaluate the impacts of fishing activities on the dugong population and seagrass habitats around Bahrain.
The workshop was joined by 8 participants from governmental entities, volunteers, and academic and research bodies.
