The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage participates in the MONDIACULT 2022

The Arab Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH) participated in the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development for 2022 MONDIACULT, which was held in Mexico from 28 to 30 September 2022, under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of the United Mexican States and Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, and in the presence of representatives of the 193 Member States of UNESCO, as well as a large number of Ministers of Culture and governmental and international organizations.

ARC-WH was represented at the conference by the deputy director, Sheikh Ibrahim bin Hamoud Al Khalifa, who conveyed ARC-WH’S message and support for global efforts to develop a new road map for cultural policies during this important international event.

During the international event, a total of one-hundred-fifty States adopted a Declaration for Culture at the end of a three-day conference organised by UNESCO. MONDIACULT 2022 is considered the largest world conference dedicated to culture in the last 40 years.

The declaration supports culture as a “global public good” and reflects the agreement made between countries on a commonly shared roadmap to strengthen and reaffirm public policies in the field.
