Restoring Syrian heritage & reviving local communities

ARC-WH participated in the two-day workshop from 19 to 20 March 2022, titled ‘Restoring Syrian heritage & reviving local communities’ held in Dubai, UAE. The workshop was organised by the Syrian Trust for Development. The objective of the workshop was to create a call to action for the conservation and reconstruction of Syria’s cultural heritage and the communities that live within the vicinity of sites, with a particular focus on Syria’s six UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The workshop brought together national and international experts, as well as non-governmental organisations with expertise in the field of cultural heritage conservation. The director of ARC-WH was a panellist in a discussion on ‘The Role of International Organisations for Syrian Cultural Heritage’. Moreover, the deputy director of ARC-WH participated in a panel discussion entitled ‘Cooperating in the conservation of heritage sites in Syria’.
