The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Arts in Algeria, is currently carrying out an online training workshop on the ‘Preparation of management systems and plans for cultural World Heritage Sites’.

The workshop began on 3 October 2021 and will conclude on 7 October 2021. Its objective is to enhance the understanding of the conditions and management needs of World Heritage in Algeria. The training workshop is attended by World Heritage Site managers, heritage professionals from the Ministry of Culture and Arts, and international experts. They will discuss the methodologies and approaches to assess local needs and priorities in view of developing management systems that are adapted to the context of World Heritage properties.

The primary outcomes of this training workshop will be to strengthen the capacities of heritage professionals and sites managers in Algeria in management systems, as well as their practical implementation on the ground. A learning by doing approach will be implemented to establish a proactive methodology via interactive sessions between participants and resource persons. The case study of the World Heritage Site of Djémila will be used for group work and applied exercises.
