Following an official invitation by Iraq’s Ministry of Environment requesting ARC-WH’s technical guidance for the preparation of the State of Conservation (SoC) report of the natural components of the Ahwar World Heritage property, a two-day workshop was organised from 3 to 4 October 2017. Since this was the First State of Conservation Report by the Ministry of Environment, ARC-WH provided training for staff from the national team chosen to prepare the report regarding the Ahwar property before its submittal to UNESCO and IUCN. The workshop improved the technical capacity of the national team to correctly prepare its first SoC report to meet UNESCO’s requirements and standards.
