Organisation of Risk Preparedness Workshop
In response to the current situation facing cultural heritage in the region, ARC-WH, in partnership with the UNESCO office in Beirut and ICCROM-Athar, organised a workshop on Risk Preparedness for Syrian experts. A total of 23 participants joined the workshop from different parts of Syria, including Aleppo, Idleb, Deir Al-Zor, Homs, Damascus and Daraa and represented a variety of different professional fields such as museum curators, conservator architects and engineers. The capacity building course covered different disciplines, such as rapid documentation and ratification of photos, the analysis of structural problems in ancient buildings, the discussion of structural problems and solutions related to specific case studies, risk preparedness, assessment and management, and communication with local communities.
