ARC-WH, in coordination with IUCN and the Ministry of Environment of Iraq, conducted a field visit, which formed part of the technical support programme for the nomination preparation process of the Marshlands and its conservation and management.

This mission progressed the programme to a more advanced level of support, as it marked an extension to the new methodology of the World Heritage programme and promoted engagement at an early stage with both the State Party and key partners to advise those sites in need of technical support.
