As part of the Tabe’a Programme Strategy to support new nominations from the Arab region, IUCN, in partnership with ARC-WH, produced two regional factsheets entitled ‘Desert World Heritage and Marine World Heritage Sites in the Arab States’.

Both factsheets include descriptions, definitions and key information on the two delicate ecosystems. During the World Heritage Committee meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, ARC-WH organised an exhibition on 12 July 2016 entitled ‘Sand and Sea in the Arab Region’ where the regional thematic factsheets were distributed.
