In response to the current situation facing cultural heritage in the region, ARC-WH, in partnership with the UNESCO office in Beirut and ICCROM-Athar, organised a workshop on Risk Preparedness for Syrian experts. A total of 23 participants joined the workshop from different parts of Syria, including Aleppo, Idleb, Deir Al-Zor, Homs, Damascus and Daraa and ‎represented a variety of different professional fields such as museum curators, conservator architects ‎and engineers. The capacity building course covered different disciplines, such as rapid ‎documentation and ratification of photos, the analysis of structural problems in ancient buildings, ‎the discussion of structural problems and solutions related to specific case studies, risk ‎preparedness, assessment and management, and communication with local communities.‎
