After receiving an official request from the Baptism Site Commission (BSC), ARC-WH, with the assistance of a regional expert, visited the World Heritage site of the Baptism Site “Bethany Beyond the Jordan” (Al-Maghtas). ​

The aim of the visit was to provide technical advice on the process of revising the HIA for completed and new churches in the buffer zone as requested by the World Heritage Committee.​

ARC-WH also had the opportunity to attend two meetings with Petra National Trust (PNT) and Petra Archaeological Park in order to investigate potential areas of collaboration.
