23rd Conference on Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Arab World

ARC-WH was invited by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) to participate in the 23rd Conference on Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Arab World, held in Amman, Jordan, organized in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities in Jordan. ARC-WH gave an overview on the preparation and mechanisms of the Nomination file process, as well as the Nomination format and content during a session dedicated to the preparation of Nomination Files for the submission of sites on the World Heritage List.  During the final session of the conference, the legal framework and protection of cultural property was explored in the context of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two main protocols in how they address the varying mechanisms of the Convention.

Following the last session of the conference, participants proposed a series of recommendations to be shared by ALECSO to be reviewed by the participants before sharing them with Arab States. The final reports and recommendation of the session were then widely disseminated by ALESCO among the Arab States.
